Adventure Weeks, a new program from legacy adventure tour company Mountain Travel Sobek is trying to prove the affirmative. Its first installment guides visitors in their exploration of the country—even those visitors who are, well, in a bit of a hurry. In six days, tour members will explore the country’s Bagan Archaeological Zone, where Bagan kings commissioned over 4,000 temples and pagodas in the 11th through 12th centuries. Some 2,000 ruinous sites remain, with highlights including the Ananda Temple built in 1091, the massive Dhammayan Gyi Temple (A.D.1170), and the cave temple of Gu Byauk Gyi (Myinkaba) (A.D.1113).

The tour also includes a hike in Nat Ma Taung, otherwise known as Mount Victoria National Park, which is known for its dramatic scenery, incredible bird watching, and rhododendron blooms. Next up: a long-tail boat ride down the tranquil Irrawaddy River and exploring the country’s ancient Chin villages by foot and mountain bike.

The tours are geared towards individuals who want to explore the world, but are short on time. These trips are packed with site-seeing escapades that let travelers immerse themselves in a culture and country as expeditiously as possible, usually just 4 to 7 days. While Burma is the first trip planned, other tour options include the ancient shrines of Laos, a tour of Machu Picchu, even a visit to Easter Island.

The best part? The tour is limited to just 13 guests, meaning an intimate experience is practically guaranteed.
